Before Tanning
1. Exfoliate your body paying attention to rough areas like elbows, knees and ankles.
2. Make sure your skin is clean and dry beforehand eg. No deodorants/moisturisers/perfumes etc (as this forms a barrier on the skin and affects coverage). Shaving or waxing is best done up to 2 hours prior.
What to wear
Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. Most women wear a dark G-string or bikini bottom. Guys must wear jocks. I have disposable G-strings and caps available if required.
After Tanning
1. Over the next 4-6 hours (longer for a darker result) your tan will deepen in colour. After this time you may shower. A body wash is recommended as soap could cause your tan to lift. Do not be alarmed when your tan appears to be washing off. This is only your bronzer agent (what is used to guide you when spraying). Your beautiful tan has now developed underneath.
2.Once showered, pat yourself dry. Do not rub as this will cause tan to come off uneven. To prolong the life of your tan we suggest you moisturise twice a day.
What to wear after your tan
Wear loose dark clothing for at least 2 hrs. Cotton fabric is the best choice. It's recommended not to wear a bra or closed in shoes for 2hrs. These items rub on the tan and the outcome is an uneven result.
Before and after
WILL IT STAIN MY CLOTHING OR OTHER ITEMS?
Miami Tan uses quick drying products, the colours used in the bronzing agent may rub off onto clothing but will wash out. I recommend not sitting on leather as this may soak the colour into the fabric as it would your skin.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Every body is a little different, if you look after your tan you should get 7 days out of your gougeous sunkissed skin. Your body naturally exfoliates causing the tan to fade away ofer time.
DOES IT WASH OFF?
No, only the bronzing agent that is used for the application. The unique Di Hydroxy(DHA) is what creates your tan. Note: DHA is not permanent, so it will fade as any suntan will. Which is why we recommend a weekly top up.
WHAT ABOUT SWIMMING WITH THE PRODUCT?
Swimming in chlorinated pools may cause your tan to wear quickly, when leaving the pool or ocean after a swim dry yourself down by patting your body not rubbing it dry with the towel, this will help maintain your spray tan.
ARE THERE ANY HARMFUL EFFECTS WITH THE PRODUCT?
Dermatologists will enthusiastically agree that Tanning with a Di Hydroxy formulation is much safer than tanning for prolonged hours in the sun. Skin allergies are not common however we do recommend that you do a sample area if you are a first time spray tanner.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DRY?
Because every person have different levels of moisture in their skin, times will vary from person to person, however around 10 mins and you should be dry enough to go out and enjoy your tan.
IS IT OKAY TO USE SPRAY ON TAN DURING PREGNANCY?
There are no tests showing that spray tanning during pregnancy is harmful. The ingredient in the tanning solution that gives you your tan is DHA and this is made from sugar cane, and has no known problems. We recommend you consult with your Doctor
DOES A SPRAY TAN PROVIDE SPF PROTECTION?
No! Spray Tans do not provide any sunscreen protection, so you should apply sunscreen accordingly. Your skin will appear tanned, even though it's not. This is an artificial tan. There is no Sun Protection Factor (SPF) so your skin is still exposed and vulnerable to the sun. If you choose to expose your skin to UV rays either from the sun or a tanning bed, it is important to use a lotion with SPF to protect you from the sun's harmful rays.
